Pish Posh Challenge - Week 6

We are six weeks deep into the Pish Posh 8 Week Challenge. Of the people taking on this challenge, some are getting in shape, some have a weight loss goal, one is trying to quit smoking and all are trying to improve their lives in some way. I chose to increase the frequency of my blog posts to stretch myself as a writer. I pledged to post at least five times per week and have done so since the challenge started.

Here is a review of my posts from this past week:

Sunday, October 7
My First Date: The Call
Part 1 of a 2 part post about building up the nerve to ask a girl out for the first date I ever went on.

Monday, October 8
My First Date: The Date
The rest of the story from the previous post detailing the actual date.

Wednesday, October 10
Culinary Adventures
I have eaten a lot of crazy things and am always searching out something new.

Thursday, October 11
Orville Redenbacher was Brazilian
I spent the day in the hometown of Orville Redenbacher and was verbally abused by a local youth.

The last couple of weeks have gotten much easier in trying to accomplish this goal of writing almost everyday. I sit down each night knowing that I have to write something. Because of this mindset, I produce something every time. Since I no longer wait until I think I have something to write about, it has been much easier to do so.

In fact, now that I know that I have the time to write and have quit making excuses, I have even started a writing project on the side. This is in addition to keeping up my blog. It was self doubt that kept me from writing before and I can feel that slipping away. I love writing and now just need to discover the secret of turning this into a way to make money.

  1. Two more weeks and you will have fulfilled your eight week challenge. A worthy goal. Let me know when you've figured out a way to make money from your blog.

  4. Do you think that making money from your blog would inspire you more? Or less? On the one hand, everyone needs money, and on the other, perhaps it would ruin the fun.

I used to enjoy my blog immensely - the community and so forth it brought me, and also I felt like I could be funny and tell stories. I enjoyed that. I currently feel like all of my humor is gone and writing the blog has become a chore. I wish it weren't that way. I miss the feeling of excitement and almost addiction to engaging in this arena. It was a great feeling and I couldn't wait to get home to write, or avoid my other duties to write. Maybe its because I write all day at work now, but I don't think so.

Anyway I hope my happy side or at least funny side comes back. This is all to say I admire and am so delighted by your perseverance and to hear that you are just producing little gems like hotcakes. What a great feeling. I'm so glad the challenge has been good for you!!

    1. Thank you for the idea to do a challenge. I wouldn't have taken this on without it.

I hit the lull several months back and just didn't feel like writing, but thought I better keep going because I had built a following. Now that I am back to it, I am enjoying it again. I am sure the thrill will drop off again at some point, but I plan to push through it.

I pray you find your funny place again and whatever is keeping it away improves. Thanks again.

  5. Wow, you have have been doing so well! I like your point of not waiting until you have an idea, but just knowing that you have to write about something helps you to do it.

I think after this challenge, I'll have a personal challenge regarding writing. You've inspired me!

That is great news that you are working on another writing project. I hope you find a way to make money at it, too!

    1. That's awesome. Go for it.

I am excited about the side project and have a goal to have it finished before the end of the year. I will write about it here once it is finished.
